Data center in the wind farm
Offshore wind farms generate electricity. But what if they also provided digital infrastructure?
Vattenfall is a European energy company owned by the Swedish government.
For a procurement process of a large European offshore wind farm, we assessed the technical feasibility and economic attractiveness of integrating data centers into the wind farm facility.
We developed a model data center in the tower of an offshore wind turbine, covering all technical aspects such as cooling, power supply, and direct current connections. In parallel, we analyzed business models, financing scenarios, and market advantages, which were validated in stakeholder workshops.
