Germany's Digital Infrastructure 2045
Germany needs digital infrastructure for its digitization goals. But how much is required? And how can it be developed sustainably and independently?

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) shapes the framework for economic growth, digital innovation, and the transition to renewable energies.
We analyzed the status and development of Germany as a data center location – as part of a DENA consortium. Our focus was on the economic perspective: economic significance, business models, and value chains.
For this, we developed a macroeconomic model that projects the degree of digitization in various sectors up to 2045 and calculates the demand for digital resources. Additionally, we evaluated efficiency scenarios and devised an ecosystem strategy for resilient, regional infrastructure.
