On March 12, 2026, IDED invites you to the third and final workshop of the SIEC research project at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy in Berlin. The focus will be on findings from 20 months of research on the Server Idle Energy Coefficient before the project concludes in April.
The workshop is aimed at data center operators, cloud providers, and anyone interested in energy efficiency in IT infrastructure. In addition to presenting the project results, participants will discuss in three working groups tools for implementation, the business case for the coefficient, and the next steps towards standardization. A central question: How can SIEC contribute to improved capacity planning for digital infrastructure in Germany and create transparency about current server utilization?
