IDED and the University of Stuttgart received funding as an AI flagship project from the BMUV for a Kubernetes plugin that makes the environmental impact of AI models transparent.
IDED (formerly known as SDIA) together with the University of Stuttgart launched the NADIKI project, funded as a "AI Lighthouse" by the Federal Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection. NADIKI is developing a Kubernetes plugin that enables AI models to determine their own environmental impact — from energy consumption and hardware used to the cooling water needs of the data center.
The three-step approach combines mathematical estimation, hardware/software-based measurement, and direct data center integration. All results are published as open source.
