Digital Product

A digital product or service is what a company or consumer might purchase. It always consists of software or a combination of software and hardware and, therefore, handles data, which represents its inputs (by the users) and transforms these into outputs. The quality of a digital product is often measured by how well it performs this conversion from inputs to outputs, how these outputs are displayed, how user-friendly the input process is, the speed of conversion, and the error rate associated with it.

Gartner defines digital product as follows:

A digital product is a designated set of business capabilities valuable to a specific customer group. A product may consist solely of software and data. Alternatively, it may include any mix of software, hardware, facilities, and services necessary to deliver the complete product experience. A product could be a repeatable service (such as a subscription service) or a platform (either one-sided or multisided).
